How to Style Statement Jewellery

I make some big statement pieces. But how do you style them? Do you love a statement piece but are afraid to? Fear, not this little blog post will help and give inspiration around styling statement pieces for all occasions.

Day Outfit:
So here is a day outfit for your casual running errands and what ever you do in a day. A simple black tee this one is cropped but doesn't need to be, with a pair of light wash Mom jeans. So for this I have paired it a statement necklace with a bold and sparkly print. With this I have added a simple and understated matching earring to keep it daytime. Then to finish off a pair of block heels or white Converse. Depending on what your day has in store! I think this is a really fun way to rock a statement necklace. It keeps the focus on the necklace with the understated outfit and also isn't too over top.

Evening:
For the evening look if you want to style statement jewellery. I would pull out your little back dress. And then deiced on a colour pop. For this I have chosen purple. Purple heel with a statement necklace. Unlike the day outfit I think a statement earring is also in order. Hair up and a beautiful and bold earring. Here any of the earring or necklace combinations could work to make a fabulous outfit.

I hoped this helped and gives you a little inspiration! But at the end of day there are no rules or rights or wrong. Jewellery is to be enjoyed and you can wear it however and whenever you want! You do you.

Stitch Featival

On Thursday I took a trip to London to visit the Stitch Festival a place full of inspirational sewing and crafting ideas.
I started the Alda you with a talk by Esme Young a teacher at CSM and a judge on the Great British Sewing Bee. She talked about her life and career in the fashion industry and it was so interesting and inspiring. There was small exhibit with some examples of her work which were amazing to look at too!

Then after a bite to eat I took my time wondering around all of the stalls selling beautiful fabrics, fascinating sewing machines and so much more. There were lots of demonstrations to watch and to learn from too!  I could of spent a fortune the stunning fabrics but I managed to resist.

The one thing I could not resist was a stand demonstrating how to create marble art it room my imagination and fascinated me so much I had to buy a kit and try it out for myself. Look out for that probably on my art page.

Overall it was a fun, inspiring and educational day and I would definitely recommend!

How to Sew Inseam Pockets

I love to sew and as I was sewing a piece for my online store (Abbys Art Atelier) I thought I would share how to sew a inseam pockets.  You will need some sewing experience and a skirt or trouser pattern cut and sewn with the dart if required are in and no further.

1.
Once you have your skirt or trouser sew the pocket bag to the side seam of the skirt where the pattern has notched where it should be placed. And repeat this on the side of both front pieces and and back pieces if required on both sides if not just one back and one front.

Handmade Fashion

I love high street and designer clothes don't get me wrong, I love me a bit of Topshop which if you read my blogpost you will know it's my go to fashion inspiration for my posts.
But as I embark in starting my own little business trying to sell my designs online I know how hard it is to get noticed from the big stores but also how much time, love and passion goes into each piece which is handmade by someone. But also high street although fabulous, is massed produced many people will be wearing, which could led to an awkward situation where you turn up to work or party and your are wearing the same thing as three other people! Wearing a handmade item will give you good chance of looking unique and will be giving people outfit envy!
