Going Retro

I bought this mini skirt from Miss Selfridges and I am in love with the paisley retro print. I think it will be the only chance to wear this skirt without tights on! I think the slouch boots really finishes off the retro look. I am really enjoying this Indian Summer we are having her in England it really gives me a glimpse into what it would feel like to live in a hot country (sigh). I love this retro trend for this Autumn/Winter season it is a really fun trend to play around with go full retro or just hints!

How to Make a Toile

I love to sew and I often use a pre made pattern for the one reason I am not very good or enjoy pattern cutting (the traditional sort). Do I decided to try different type used in fashion houses. This technique is best if you have used paper patterns and are a confident sewer but can't pattern this is a great way to make your own designs.

1. Create a design, probably something simple at first. (This is my first time too)

2. Use flat elastic or string to map out the basic shape then add 1cm seam allowance. Only one half for a toile. This includes any pleats you may want in a skirt or top.

3. Next use either calico or like me an old bed sheet. Then cut a piece a bit bigger than your first part of the garment. Then fold in to the seams allowance then pin into the material and mannequin. Repeat for all parts of the garment.

4.Hand tack things like darts and pleat anything Lilly to fall once removed from the form. Then as your tack the rest of the pin out use them to keep the seam allowance in place. Once all off machine them all together right sides together.

5. Lastly cut any threads lose and pin back into the mannequin. To see end result. It was my first time too and I was really please of the result considering it was the first time.

6. Make any adjustment that you want for example I want my skirt more flared so I will make the appropriate changes. Then you can transfer the peices to paper for your final garment.

London Fashion Week: Tata-Naka

London Fashion week this year has been mega. Don't let the others know this but I think London fashion week is the best out of all of the fashion week( of course I am a little bias!). I really think british designers know how to work it and flatterer everyone's body shapes and personal style!

I was so excited when I received my invitation to the Tata-Naka fashion week presentation. This is my first fashion week which I have been able to attend a presentation and I am just so lucky that I was invited to one on of my all time favourite designer.
This presentation is really one for the patient but I really think it was worth the wait.

     

Timeless Valentino

If you are like me your dream of the day when you can walk into any Chelsea Boutique and buy andy Valentino, Dior , Prada dress or bag with out two thoughts of what the price is. But (sigh) Until then saving months of wages to buy one timeless designer pieces maybe a bag or dress. While browsing through the Valentino Ready to Wear collection I stumbled upon this effortless couture dress. With the simple colour blocking design and silhouette this well made dress could be a staple in your Autumn/Winter wardrobe. Because it so simple it is a dress you can rework with different shoes accessories and bags to make a fresh look each a/w season. An Investment? Yes. But a good one? Yes I think so.

Autumn Winter- Vintage Florals

So I am really sorry about oak of post on here, my summer so busy. But I am back and just in time for fashion week. 
Anyway... While shopping in Westfield I noticed the vintage florals starting to spring up and even this last week Topshop and Miss Selfrigde have gone cray with this fab trend. I think the vintage floral and the nostalgic rose tint colours will really keep you warm this Autumn/Winter Season (well not literally please still wear  a coat!). These prints are so easy to wear. An outfit with vintage florals the print does all the work for you. The chiffon blouses are my favourite. The flowy material with a simple pair of black skinny jeans, a statement necklace and chunky bracelet will be an effortlessly chic look this season and one you can rework!
